Black Copper Marans

Coming in 2026
We have had chickens since 2011 for eggs and enjoyment. In 2021 we shifted focus to family sustainability, and have been working with multiple breeds to find the right fit. We are in the process of transitioning our heritage flock from Delaware and Bielfelder to exhibition Black Copper Marans.

We are eagerly awaiting our starting birds from a dear friend, and can't wait to intoduce them to the DKR family!

Black Copper Marans are highly prized, dual-purpose French birds recognized for producing exceptionally dark chocolate-brown eggs and a high-quality table carcass known for fine textured, flavorful meat.

Black Copper Marans typically reach table weight at 20-22 weeks, providing a 4-4.5 carcass.

Our lines are being started from the lines of a good friend with excellent exhibition stock and deep experience in showing. We are so grateful for their support!

We're looking for great quality Ameraucana from exhibition breeders!

Ameraucana chickens are a hardy and friendly dual-purpose breed, best known for laying 3-4 medium-sized blue eggs per week (roughly 200–270 a year). They are characterized by their muffs and beards, pea combs, slate legs, and docile, curious, and often flighty, but generally sweet personalities.

Ameraucana are a slower to mature bird, reaching point of lay around 5-7 months. Cockbirds weight 67 pounda, and hens 4-5.5 pounds.
